BBC Two has released the first trailer for The Game, a new six episode Cold War spy drama from Being Human creator Toby Whithouse.
The Game is set during the 1970s and tell the story of the invisible war fought by MI5 to protect the nation from the threats of the Cold War. The series begins just as a KGB defector reveals the existence of a devastating Soviet plot, codenamed Operation Glass. The charismatic but paranoid DG of MI5, known simply as Daddy, assembles a secret team to investigate. The exact nature of the threat is unclear. All they know is that the Soviets are reactivating sleeper agents across the UK and giving them all a task.
Originally developed for BBC One under then controller Danny Cohen, the six episode series hails from BBC Cymru Wales, with Faith Penhale, Brian Minchin and Toby Whithouse serving as executive producers. A co-pro with BBC America, The Game stars Brian Cox (The Bourne Supremacy), Chloe Pirrie (Black Mirror), Paul Ritter (Quantum Of Solace), Jonathan Aris (Sherlock), Judy Parfitt (Call The Midwife), Tom Hughes (Silk), Shaun Dooley (Misfits), Victoria Hamilton (Lark Rise To Candleford), Rachael Stirling (The Bletchley Circle) and Georgina Rich (Sherlock).
