The final season of Strike Back draws ever closer…
Cinemax has announced that the ten episode final season of counter-terrorism action series Strike Back, which is a co-production with UK satcaster Sky1, will premiere on Friday July 31st at 10/9c. (Sky1 has not yet set a UK air date for the show’s final run).
Based on the novel of the same name by Chris Ryan, Strike Back follows the exploits of Section 20, an elite counterterrorism unit as it spans the globe to stop potential threats, often behind enemy lines. The drama series is produced by Left Bank Pictures in association with BSkyB & HBO/Cinemax and stars Phillip Winchester, Sullivan Stapleton, Robson Green, Michelle Lukes and Milauna Jackson.
The show’s final season (the fourth for Cinemax and the fifth for Sky1) was originally set to air last Summer but was ultimately delayed after Strike Back was forced to go on a production hiatus when series co-lead Sullivan Stapleton suffered a head injury on a night out in Thailand.
Plot details for the final season are being kept firmly under wraps, however, both Sky and Cinemax previously announced that Max Beesley (Mad Dogs), Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) and Tim McInnerny (Spooks: The Greater Good) would appear in the final 10 episodes.
Further cast additions for the final season include Michael McElhatton, Dustin Clare, Will Yun Lee, James Wilby, Adrian Paul, Joseph Gatt, Christian Antidormi, Leo Gregory, Mark Griffin, Wolf Kahler, Andrew Pleavin, Eliza Hope Bennett, Masa Yamaguchi and British mixed martial arts champion and UFC fighter Michael Bisping.
