‘House Of Cards’ Renewed For Fourth Season At Netflix

House Of Cards S3Underwood for President in 2016?

Netflix is extending Frank Underwood’s term in the Oval Office with a fourth season pick-up for their breakout drama House Of Cards. 13 episodes have been ordered for the show’s fourth season, which is set to air globally on the streaming service in 2016.

Created by Beau Willimon, House of Cards follows ruthless politician Francis Underwood, as he ascends from the position of House Majority Whip to President of the United States. The drama series is produced by Trigger Street Productions & Media Rights Capital and stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright.

The fourth season is set to pick up from the events of the show’s third season with Frank Underwood running to secure a full term as President of the United States, after serving out the term of his predecessor. Production on the fourth season is expected to commence in Baltimore this Summer.

Netflix has been busy today. In addition to ordering a fourth season of House of Cards, the streaming giant has also picked up two new series in the past few hours. The first is an 8 episode drama series set in the 1980s title Montauk, while the other is a sketch show from Bob Odenkirk and David Cross.

I would be curious to know about the planned longevity of this show. As malevolently entertaining as Kevin Spacey is as President Francis Underwood, if they want keep some parity with the British version on which it is loosely based, Underwood will eventually need to be assassinated. Netflix may have other ideas of course but this entertaining political drama should only run for a total of four seasons.
