Hallmark is continuing to build their slate of returning original series.
The family oriented network has handed out a second season order to their Catherine Bell starrer Good Witch, which is based on their TV movie franchise of the same name. 12 episodes have been ordered for the second season, which will unspool with a two-hour special in Fall 2015, before the following ten episodes air in 2016.
Good Witch follows Cassie Nightingale, a witch residing in a haunted house in small town America who can never predict what excitement will brew in her life with her enchanting daughter, Grace and handsome neighbour, Dr Sam Radford. The drama series is produced by Whizbang Films and stars Catherine Bell, James Denton and Bailee Madison. Orly Adelson, Jonathan Eskenas, Frank Siracusa, Craig Pryce and Sue Tenney serve as executive producers.
“Our viewers have fallen in love with Catherine Bell and her enchanting journey, as well as her talented co-stars, James Denton and Bailee Madison. After seeing the tremendously overwhelming response to the series, there was no question that ‘Good Witch’ would be renewed for a second season,” said Michelle Vicary, Executive Vice President, of Programming and Publicity.
The second season renewal comes with only three episodes left in the show’s first season and as international distributor ITV Studios Global Entertainment is shopping the series to international buyers at MIPTV in Cannes, France. The international sales arm of ITV is no doubt hoping that the second season pick up will be enough to convince international broadcasters to sign up for the Catherine Bell fronted drama.
