FX is the latest network to unveil their Summer schedule.
The cabler announced Wednesday that they had set premiere dates for the second seasons of Tyrant and comedy Married, as well as a launch date for new comedy Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll. FX also said that the second season of The Strain, from Guillermo del Toro and Carlton Cuse, will premiere this Summer, though no formal date has been set.
Up first is middle-east drama Tyrant, which returns for its second season on Tuesday June 16th at 10/9c. The second season picks up from the season one finale with Jamal, having been betrayed by the West, now setting his sights on the East, developing an alliance with China that he hopes will make Abbudin a global power. But Barry continues to be a thorn in Jamal’s side, becoming a symbol of freedom for the increasingly vocal insurgency.
New comedy Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll premieres on Thursday July 16th at 10/9c. Created by and starring Denis Leary (Rescue Me) tells the story of Johnny Rock, a middle-aged rock ‘n roller who desperately wanted to be rich and famous. But back in the 90s, just as his band The Heathens were on the brink of success, they broke up thanks to his substance abuse problems and the fact that he slept with the lead guitarist’s wife. Now 25 years later Johnny is trying to get the band back together. John Corbett (Parenthood), Elizabeth Gillies (Victorious), Elaine Hendrix (Fetching) and Bobby Kelly (Louie). also star.
Following immediately after the series premiere of Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll is the second season of Married, which kicks off on Thursday July 16th at 10:30/9:30c. Married is a half hour comedy about a couple who are happy they have each other to blame. Russ (Nat Faxon) and Lina Bowman (Judy Greer) have changed almost everything about themselves in order to be responsible parents, but once in a while they find time to remind each other of who they used to be.
