Comedy Central Picks Up UK Rights To ‘Broad City’, Sets Premiere For April 28th

Broad CityComedy Central UK has picked up the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to Broad City, the half-hour comedy from Amy Poehler, Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer which is produced for the US Comedy Central network.

Broad City is an odd couple comedy about two best friends navigating their twenties in New York City whose adventures always lead down unexpected and outlandish paths. They’re broke, flawed and don’t shy away from the sticky situations NYC throws at them – they dive right into the muck. But no matter how bad it gets, these young broads are always down with whatever hits them.

The comedy originally began its life as a web series from Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, before seguing to Comedy Central with a half-hour format. Both Jacobson and Glazer star and also serve as executive producers alongside Amy Poehler, 3 Arts’ Dave Becky, Sam Saifer and Tony Hernandez. Broad City was recently renewed for a third season.

Broad City, which is set to premiere on Comedy Central UK on Tuesday April 28th at 10pm, is the latest scripted acquisition for Comedy Central UK. Earlier this year the VIMN backed channel agreed a deal with Sony Pictures Television for the short-lived CBS comedy Bad Teacher starring Ari Graynor, Kristin Davis, Sara Gilbert, Ryan Hansen and David Alan Grier.
