Discovery Networks International has acquired one-off Africa’s Piranha for their Animal Planet channels in the UK Africa, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, China, Taiwan India, Southeast Asia, the Pacific Rim after agreeing a deal with wildlife and factual entertainment producer and distributor Earth Touch.
Africa’s Piranha follows extreme angler Andy Coetzee as he undertakes a hazardous journey through the continent, diving the rivers of the Okavango Delta and the Congo to study the Tigerfish, which grows to mammoth proportions and has outsized razor-sharp teeth, in its own environment. In addition to the bumper deal with Discovery for the one-off, Earth Touch has also pre-sold the show to Servus TV Austria for German-speaking Europe.
In addition to Africa’s Piranha, Discovery Networks International has agreed a range of deals with Earth Touch for a wealth of their factual programmes. Said deals give Discovery rights to 13 part series Lodging With Lions in Asia-Pacific; Speed Kills 2 in Japan, India & Taiwan; and Mega Trains across EMEA and the Pacific Rim.
