ZDF Enterprise has inked a first look with Projector Pictures, the UK indie set up by Waking The Dead star Trevor Eve, Charles Haswell and Sharon Maughan.
Projector Pictures has been behind a wide range of UK dramas including Waking The Dead‘s short-lived spin-off The Body Farm; and Kidnap & Ransom, which aired two seasons on ITV. The indie is also developing a US remake of Kidnap & Ransom for premium cable network Showtime.
The first look agreement between ZDFE and Projector, which spans both development and distribution, was brokered by Projector Pictures’ Executive Producer Rachel Gesua; Charles Moore, Partner at commercial law firm Wiggin; ZDFE’s Vice-President of Legal Affairs Karoline Meichsner-Sertl; and Tasja Abel Vice-President of ZDFE Drama.
“Projector Pictures’ approach to programming and its commitment to creating distinctive, innovative British drama for a global audience is a great fit for our company, and we are thrilled to begin this collaboration”, said Fred Burcksen, Executive Vice-President and COO of ZDF Enterprises.
“We are hugely excited to be working with ZDF Enterprises, a company with an impressive track record in distributing original, high end drama that has achieved tremendous international recognition”, added Rachel Gesua. “Projector shares their passion and ambition for developing outstanding drama with great talent and we’re looking forward to this partnership and working closely with the ZDF Enterprises team.”
