TruTV UK is continuing their recent acquisitions spree. Mere weeks after acquiring “musical reality series” Branson Famous, the Turner owned channel has struck a deal with Passion Distribution to pick up the exclusive UK broadcast rights to RuPaul’s Drag Race.

The wide-ranging deal between TruTV UK and Passion Distribution covers all seasons of the RuPaul’s Drag Race as well as companion series RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked. The parent series will launch on TruTV UK this June, beginning with the fourth season.

RuPaul’s Drag Race follows legendary drag queen and series host, RuPaul as he guides his queens (or contestants) through a series of challenges from dress up and singing to the infamous “lip-sync-off” for their lives in his quest to find “America’s next drag superstar.” The series is produced by World of Wonder for Viacom’s Logo network and has featured such guest stars as Pamela Anderson, Sharon Osbourne, Jackie Collins and La Toya Jackson.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race is an entertaining, outrageous show packed full of larger-than-life characters with a balance of humour and warmth that our viewers love”, said Jane Mote, Turner UK’s Channel Director of General Entertainment. “It’s a perfect fit for TruTV, complementing the existing slate and showcasing the channel’s sense of fun. We’re really excited to become its TV home in the UK and to be working with Passion and creators and producers, World of Wonder to spread the RuPaul love to new audiences.”

“This long running extraordinary entertainment brand has won so many fans worldwide to date so Passion is delighted to be announcing its first broadcast home in the UK with TruTV”, added Elin Thomas, Passion’s Global Head of Sales. “Look out for this addictive, joyful, hilarious show where heels are higher, hair is bigger and cat fights definitely cattier as RuPaul applies his search criteria of Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve, and Talent to crown his Drag Race winner.”
