The BBC has set their sights on a new Saturday night gameshow.
BBC One has handed out a 10 episode series order to Can’t Touch This, a new entertainment format from Kieran Doherty and Matt Worthy’s Sony Pictures Television backed Stellify Media – marking the first major commission that the indie has secured from a UK broadcaster since launching last year.
Can’t Touch This is described as an “action game show” in which contestants have to touch prizes in order to win them, whilst simultaneously navigating a larger than life assault course. The series, which is receiving funding from Northern Ireland Screen, was commissioned by BBC One Controller Charlotte Moore and BBC Entertainment’s Mark Linsey and Alan Tyler. Kieran Doherty and Matt Worthy executive produce.
“We are delighted that Stellify brought this ambitious format to us” said BBC Entertainment Commissioner Alan Tyler. “Matt and Kieran are exciting creatives and have developed a show that is both funny and gripping. We look forward to bringing it to the BBC One audience.”
“To secure this major commission only a few months after launching is a huge vote of confidence from the BBC”, added Stellify co-founder Kieran Doherty. “This is probably the biggest entertainment commission to come out of our part of the world and we’re grateful for the amazing support we have had, both from the BBC Entertainment team and everyone at NI Screen.”
