Showtime has picked up half-hour comedy drama House Of Lies for a ten episode fifth season, the network announced on Tuesday.
House of Lies follows consultant Marty Kaan, a man with a single-minded pursuit: power. This quest is eternally complicated at work by his relationships with his “Pod” of co-workers and drama from his demented ex-wife Monica, all while being a loving father to his gender-fluid teenage son. The comedy series stars Don Cheadle, Kristen Bell, Ben Schwartz, Josh Lawson, Dawn Olivieri, Donis Leonard Jr. and Glynn Turman.
The fifth season order comes just after the fourth season finale of House Of Lies aired on Showtime this past Sunday. In the fourth season Marty’s brief stint in white collar prison left the firm in shambles and a pregnant Jeannie (Bell) in charge of Clyde (Schwartz), Doug (Lawson), and a tainted Kaan & Associates.
“When you have a gifted acting ensemble led by Don Cheadle and smart, acerbic writing led by showrunner Matthew Carnahan you expect something special, and House of Lies delivers for us each season,” said Gary Levine, Showtime’s Executive Vice President of Original Programming.
For its part, House Of Lies is the latest Showtime original series to earn a renewal. The premium cable network previously picked up a sixth season of Shameless, while the BBC co-production Episodes is still awaiting word on whether or not it will be back for a fifth season.
