In what is his first series regular role since Prison Break (which is being considered for a limited series revival at Fox), Dominic Purcell has joined the cast of The CW’s proposed Arrow/The Flash spin-off.
The as-yet untitled spin-off, which is sailing its way to a series order with a projected midseason premiere next season, is described as a “team up” show, featuring recurring players from both Arrow and The Flash, as well as other characters from the DC Comics universe.
Per Deadline, Purcell is set to reprise his role as Heat Wave, a role he has played on a number of episodes of The Flash since last December. He joins a cast that includes Victor Garber (Alias), Brandon Routh (Chosen), Caity Lotz (Stalker) and Prison Break co-star Wentworth Miller.
If the spin-off lands a series order at The CW, it will follow in the footsteps of both The Flash and Arrow and will be produced by Warner Bros Television and Greg Berlanti’s studio based Berlanti Productions. The executive producers are Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim.
For its part, this is the second superhero project in the works at Beranti Productions and Warner Bros Television this development season. The two companies are also prepping Supergirl for CBS, which stars Mellissa Benoist, Calista Flockhart, Mehcad Brooks, David Harewood and Chyler Leigh.
