Wesley Snipes is making his long awaited return to television.
The former Blade star has been tapped for a co-starring role in the NBC pilot Endgame, a sniper thriller from The Librarians creator John Rogers which is being toplined by Strike Back star Philip Winchester, TVWise has learned.
Endgame is set in Las Vegas and follows Alex (Winchester) a former sniper turned security expert who is falsely accused of murdering his wife. He is soon drawn into a conspiracy and is offered his freedom in exchange for providing his services to sin city’s rich and powerful. Sony Pictures Television is the studio.
Wesley Snipes will play Johnson, the unflappable pit boss for The Game (the shadowy group at the centre of the conspiracy). He keeps an eye on the big picture but is also capable of cleaning up a mess when things spiral too far out of control.
For Snipes, who is repped by , this would mark his first regular television role in some 25 years, since the short-lived ABC drama series H.E.L.P. He did however guest star on The Bernie Mac Show and played one of the leads in the HBO movie Desappearing Acts in the early 2000s.
In another Endgame casting, Deadline is reporting that Damon Gupton (Empire, The Divide) has boarded the project and will play Cal Brown, a homicide detective for the Las Vegas Police Department and one of Alex’s (Philip Winchester) close friends.
