Rob Lowe is keeping himself busy this pilot season.
The former Parks & Recreation and The West Wing star, who is currently filming one of the lead roles in Sky1 and NBC’s 10 episode co-production Apocalypse Slough, is set to topline The Grinder, a legal comedy which just received a pilot order at Fox.
The Grinder tells the story of beloved TV lawyer Dean Sanderson (Lowe), who is known professionally The Grinder. When his long-running hit series comes to an end, he finds himself at a crossroads in life and decides to move back to his small hometown thinking he has the experience to take over his family’s law firm.
The single camera comedy, which originally landed at Fox back in October, is set up at 20th Century Fox Television and is being written by Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel. The duo will also serve as executive producers alongside Rob Lowe and Jake Kasdan, the latter of which is also attached to direct.
With the late order for The Grinder, Fox has ordered some eight comedy pilots this development cycle. The network previously handed out pilot orders to Copper Barrett’s Guide To Surviving Life, 48 Hours ‘Til Monday, Fantasy Life, Detour, an untitled comedy starring John Stamos, and an untitled comedy from Friends With Better Lives creator Dana Klein.
