Syfy is adding to the cast of Defiance.
Lee Tergesen (The Americans), Nichole Galicia (Django Unchained) and Conrad Coates (The Strain) have all joined the cast of the Syfy drama for its upcoming third season, which has just entered production in Toronto, Canada, TVWise has learned.
Defiance‘s 13 episode third season opens on the eve of an impending military siege upon the town, which has fallen on hard times following the collapse of its lucrative mines. Their fate uncertain, the townspeople face further threat with the surprise arrival of the mysterious and nearly extinct Omec, an alien race of warriors marked by the decades of subjugation they imposed upon the galaxy in the years preceding the Pale Wars.
Lee Tergesen has been cast as Castithan General Rahm Tak, a ruthless, arrogant leader in the Votanis Collective who sees Defiance, now free of Earth Republic oversight, as a symbolic target in his unrelenting pursuit of power. While Conrad Coates will play T’evgin, the leader of the Omec; and Nichole Galicia will portray Kindzi, T’evgin’s daughter and second in command.
The trio join a returning cast which includes Grant Bowler, Julie Benz, Stephanie Leonidas, Tony Curran, Jaime Murray, Graham Greene, Jesse Rath, Trenna Keating and Anna Hopkins. The third season of Defiance is expected to premiere on Syfy this Summer, alongside the second season of Dominion.
