ITV2 has renewed The Job Lot for a third season.
The Jobcentre-set comedy series, which originally began its life on the main ITV channel before seguing to ITV2 for its second season in 2014, will return for a further six episodes later this year.
The Job Lot is set in a busy West Midlands Job Centre, and focuses on the relationships between the people who work there, and the people who don’t work there, or anywhere else for that matter. The comedy series is produced by Big Talk Productions and stars Sarah Hadland, Russell Tovey, Sophie McShera, Tony Maudsley, Martin Marquez, Angela Curran, Jo Enright, Navin Chowdhry and Laura Aikman.
The show’s six episode third season, which was commissioned by ITV’s Elaine Bedell, Angela Jain and Saskia Schuster, is set to begin production this Spring and will see Karl (Tovey) and Natalie (Aikman) finding out just how difficult it is to have a relationship in front of all their colleagues, and a very demanding boss.
The scripts for the new season are being penned by Claire Downes, Stuart Lane, Ian Jarvis, Rachael New and Tom Parry. Jim Poyser is set as the series producer, while Big Talk Productions’ Chief Executive Officer Kenton Allen is returning as the executive producer. Sasha Ransome is attached to direct.
“The Job Lot is a brilliantly sharp comedy and we’re really pleased to have it back for a third series”, said Angela Jain, ITV’s Director of Digital Channels and Acquisitions. “Its style of humour and wonderfully observed cast of characters fits perfectly on the channel alongside our other scripted comedies”.
