'Ally McBeal' Alum Calista Flockhart To Co-Star In CBS' 'Supergirl' – TVWise

Calista Flockhart is returning to television.
The former Ally McBeal star has joined the cast of Supergirl, CBS’ comic book adaptation from Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler, Warner Bros Television and Greg Berlanti’s studio based Berlanti Productions, TVWise has learned.
Supergirl tells the story of Kara Zor-El (Benoist), Superman’s cousin who escaped her homeplanet Krypton amidst its destruction. Since arriving on Earth, she’s been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Mehcad Brooks also stars.
Calista Flockhart, whose previous television credits include Brothers & Sisters and Web Therapy, will play Cat Grant, the founder of CatCo – the media company that Kara and Jimmy Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) work at. Cat started her career as a reporter and has built her company into a global powerhouse.
Officially, Supergirl is still at the pilot stage and only has a series commitment rather than a series order, meaning that despite the heavy penalty attached to the project, it is not yet guaranteed a spot on CBS 2015-2016 schedule alongside the recently renewed Madam Secretary, Scorpion and NCIS: New Orleans
