The cast of CBS’ proposed Criminal Minds spin-off is staring to take shape.

The Walking Dead alum Tyler James Williams has signed on to co-star in the project, which is being piloted as a planted episode of the original Criminal Minds series.

Penned by Criminal Minds showrunner Erica Messer, the as-yet untitled spin-off is set in a different division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which comes to the aid of American citizens who find themselves in trouble in foreign countries.

Tyler James Williams will play Monty, the team’s tech analyst who works from the US while the team travels the globe, Deadline reports. He joins a cast which is being toplined by Gary Sinise, who was previously cast as Jack Garrett, the head of the unit featured in the spin-off.

If it goes to series, this would be the second spin-off of Criminal Minds. The first, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, was piloted in 2010 and debuted during the 2010-2011 broadcast season, but after failing to draw much of an audience was cancelled after only 13 episodes.
