FX has rounded out the cast for the second season of their award winning anthology series Fargo.
Ted Danson (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation), Jean Smart (24) and Patrick Wilson (A Gifted Man) have signed on to star in the 10 episode second season of the MGM Television and FX Productions produced mini-series, TVWise has learned.
Fargo is a mini-series franchise based on the feature film of the same name by Joel & Ethan Coen. The second season of the series is set in 1979 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Luverne, Minnesota, where a young State Police Officer Lou Solverson, recently back from Vietnam, investigates a case involving a local crime gang and a major Mob syndicate.
Ted Danson has been cast as Hank Larsson, Lou Solverson’s father-in-law and the Sheriff of Rock County, Minnesota who is described as “an unflappable WWII vet”; Jean Smart will play Floyd Gerhardt, the matriarch of the Gerhardt crime family; while Patrick Wilson will portray Lou Solverson (the younger version of the character played by Keith Carradine in season one).
The trio join previously announced cast members Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons, who are paying Peggy and Ed Blomquist, respectively. Rounding out the cast is Nick Offerman as town lawyer Karl Weather, Brad Garret as Kansas City crime syndicate front man Joe Buly, Bokeem Woodbine as Joe’s number two Mike Milligan, Jeffrey Donovan as Dodd Gerhardt, Angus Sampson as Bear Gerhardt and Kieran Culkin as Rye Gerhardt.
Production on the second season is set to commence on January 19th in Calgary, Canada, with FX eyeing a Fall 2015 premiere.
