The second season of Lisa Kudrow’s HBO comedy series The Comeback will receive its UK premiere on Sky Atlantic on Thursday February 5th at 10:15pm, it has been announced.
The Comeback was created by Lisa Kudrow and Michael Patrick King and stars Friends and Web Therapy alum Lisa Kudrow as the embattled Valerie Cherish, a fading TV “It Girl” who was once so desperate to stay in the spotlight that she allowed cameras to follow her every move as she appeared on a new sitcom – with disastrous results.
The show aired one season in 2005, before it was unexpectedly cancelled by HBO. The network, however, reversed course last year, when word leaked out that they were considering bringing the show back for a new run of episodes. HBO confirmed those plans in May 2014, when they picked up a further 8 episodes as a limited series. It is presently unclear if the series will be renewed for a third season.
The second season of The Comeback is set 10 years after the first and sees Valerie hiring a student film crew to shoot footage that she hopes will get the attention of Bravo, and put her back on the map. When she discovers her former nemesis Paulie G. (Lance Barber), who’s fresh out of rehab, has a new HBO show called “Seeing Red,” based on his experiences working with her, an irate Valerie crashes the HBO offices crying defamation – but ends up getting the role that’s based on herself.
