Showtime is bringing back Shameless for another season.
The network announced that they had renewed the hit drama, based on the UK series of the same name, for a 12 episode sixth season, set to air in 2016. The renewal, which was announced by Showtime President David Nevins at the TCA Winter Press Tour, comes just after the show kicked off its fifth season on the network this past Sunday.
Showtime has also picked up comedy Happyish to series. The project was originally picked up to series in 2014 with Philip Seymour Hoffman as the lead, but that order was vitiated following the actor’s untimely death. After that, Showtime re-developed the project with much of the original cast and drafted in Steve Coogan as the new lead.
Nevins also made a fairly big announcement about the upcoming Twin Peaks limited series. The executive confirmed that, as had been widely expected, The Good Wife alum Kyle MacLachlan will be reprising his iconic role as FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper in the 9 episode series. The executive also said that he expected further original cast members to return.
