Following on from yesterday’s trio of comedy pilots, NBC has ordered pilots for two drama projects.
The two dramas getting pilot orders at the peacock are The Curse Of The Fuentes Women, which hails from Ugly Betty creator Silvio Horta, his banner Silent H Productions and Warner Bros. Television; and Love Is A Four Letter Word from Diana Son, 20th Century Fox Television and Red Arrow’s Fabrik.
The Curse Of The Fuentes Women tells the story of a magical and mysterious young man who inexplicably emerges from the ocean and breathes new passion into the lives of the Fuentes women — the beautiful but lonely Lola, her ailing mother Esperanza and her troubled daughter Soledad. Silvio Horta penned the script and will executive produce alongside Andrew Maher.
Love Is A Four Letter Word examines the collision of race, sexuality and gender roles when three diverse couples put modern marriage to the test. The pilot script is being penned by Diana Son, who has previously written for such drama series as NYC 22, Blue Bloods and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. The executive producers are Henrik Bastin, Mikkel Bondesen, Kristen Campo and Diana Son.
This is the latest round of pilot orders handed out by the broadcast networks as we head straight into pilot season. As noted above, NBC previously picked up three comedy pilots, as well as drama Warriors. Fox has greenlit only one pilot, Minority Report. While ABC, CBS and The CW have yet to order any traditional pilots.
