NBC is re-teaming with top talk show host Ellen DeGeneres for a new comedy series.
The network has handed out a pilot order to an untitled comedy from the Ellen host, which has Boston Legal and Parenthood alum Monica Potter attached to star. Loosely based on Potter’s life, the comedy follows a woman (Potter) juggling her busy family life and her three ex-husbands, which proves to be difficult when she starts dating again.
Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Kreamer penned the script and will serve as executive producers on the Warner Bros. Television produced multi-camera comedy. Ellen DeGeneres and Jeff Kleeman also executive produce, while Potter will serve as a producer on the project.
If it goes to series, this would be the second comedy project DeGeneres has gotten on NBC since launching her shingle A Very Good Production. She is also an executive producer on the networks upcoming LGBT themed comedy One Big Happy, starring Elisha Cuthbert and , which is set to premiere on NBC on March 17th.
In addition, the network has also picked up a second comedy pilot titled Sharing, which hails from Jimmy Fallon and Universal Television. Penned by Damian Lanigan and Jeremy Bronson, Sharing is a workplace comedy about the different groups of people working side by side in a shared office space. Bronson, Jimmy Fallon and Rick Schwartz will executive produce.
