ITV Encore is adding to the cast of The Frankenstein Chronicles.
Stuart Graham, who starred as Detective Chief Inspector Matt Eastwood on both seasons of The Fall, and Silent Witness and Death Comes To Pemberley alum Tom Ward have signed on to co-star opposite Sean Bean in the six episode investigative/horror series.
The Frankenstein Chronicles is set in Regency London in 1827 and follows Inspector John Marlott (Sean Bean), a talented investigator who discovers what at first glance appears to be the body of a dead child, but on further examination proves to be a crude assembly of body parts arranged in a grotesque parody of a human form. The Home Secretary Sir Robert Peel then recruits Marlott with one mission: track down the perpetrator of this heinous crime.
Stuart Graham will play Forrester; while Tom Ward has been cast as Home Secretary Sir Robert Peel. Rounding out the cast is Anna Maxwell Martin, Charlie Creed-Miles, Ed Stoppard, Elliot Cowan, Hugh O’Conor, Joe Tucker, Kate Dickie, Patrick Fitzsymons, Richie Campbell, Robbie Gee, Ryan Sampson, Samuel West, Shaun Mason, Steve Wilson, Steven Berkoff and Vanessa Kirby.
The series was originally picked up by ITV Encore last November, with Games of Thrones and Legend alum Sean Bean attached as the lead. It was created by Benjamin Ross & Barry Langford and hails from Rainmark Films. David Tanner and Carol Moorhead are producing, with Tracey Scoffield and Frank Doelger on board to executive produce.
Co-creator Benjamin Ross will also direct the drama, which is receiving funding from Northern Ireland Screen and is set to begin filming in Belfast next week. Far Moor, the Endemol owned funding and packaging company set up by Artists Studio’s Justin Thomson-Glover and Patrick Irwin, has also boarded the project, with the company’s founders set to executive produce.
