Dana Klein Family Comedy Gets Pilot Order From Fox

Friends With Better Lives (FT)

Fox is getting into business with Friends With Better Lives creator Dana Klein.

The network has handed out a pilot order to an as-yet untitled family comedy from Dana Klein, prolific producer Aaron Kaplan and Friends With Better Lives producer 20th Century Fox Television, TVWise has learned.

The untitled multi-camera project is described as a “family comedy” told from the point-of-view of a working mother who is in constant competition with her perfect, stay at home sister-in-law. Dana Klein is penning the script and will executive produce alongside Kapital Entertainment’s Aaron Kaplan.

Fox now has eight pilots in the mix for next season, after previously picking up dramas Studio City, Luther, Minority Report, Rosewood and Frankenstein; while on the comedy side they have 48 Hours ‘Til Monday and Untitled John Stamos Comedy.

In addition to the pilots, Fox has already picked one series, Scream Queens, for the 2015-2016 season. That series, from Ryan Murphy, is described as a comedy-horror anthology and has received a 15 episode order. The cast includes Nick Jonas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts, Joe Manganiello, Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer and Ariana Grande.
