BBC One Sets Premiere Date For ‘Call The Midwife’ Season 4

Call The Midwife S4The fourth season of BBC One’s period drama Call The Midwife will premiere on Sunday January 18th at 8pm, it has been announced.

Call The Midwife is based on the memoirs of Jennifer Worth, who was a district midwife in London’s east end during the 1950′s and stars Jenny Agutter, Pam Ferris, Miranda Hart, Judy Parfitt, Helen George, Bryony Hannah, Laura Main and Cliff Paris. The fourth season will be the first not to feature Jessica Raine, who exited the show last year. BBC One has already ordered a fifth season and a further Christmas special for 2015.

In the opening episode of the show’s fourth season, Freshly qualified nurse Barbara Gilbert arrives to take up her position at Nonnatus and is extremely anxious to prove herself. But a late night drinks’ party proves disastrous for her and she is upset at having got off on the wrong foot.
