Sky1 has found the two hosts for Wild Things.
Comedian Jason Byrne and Springwatch’s Kate Humble have signed on to front the six episode entertainment series, which sees couples tackling an obstacle course while dressed up as a woodland animal, TVWise has learned.
Wild Things is set in a forest which contains a woodland obstacle course and follows couples (or pairs of relatives) as they overcome a series of challenges, while one member of each team is dressed up in a suit designed to look like a woodland animal, be it an owl, a stag, a duck or even a mole. The suits prevent the contestant from seeing and so they must be guided to victory by their partner.
“I’m really proud to be a part of Wild Things, one of the funniest and ‘funnest’ shows I’ve ever worked on”, said Jason Byrne. “It’s not often I cry laughing at a badger bashing a duck while an owl bowls them over to the ground. But then again, who wouldn’t find that funny? That’s the magic of Wild Things; even the hardest heart will laugh loudly at this show.”
“Wild Things is the most gloriously silly, side-splittingly funny programmes I have ever had the pleasure of being involved with”, commented Kate Humble. “Wildlife has never behaved so badly…”
Commissioned by Sky Entertainment’s Commissioning Editor Chris Brogden, the show is being produced by IWC/Mad Monk & GroupM Entertainment, and was originally unveiled during Sky1 Director Adam MacDonald’s Meet The Controller session at the Edinburgh Television Festival in August. Wild Things began production that same month for a 2015 premiere.
“We’re chuffed to be welcoming both Kate and Jason to the channel to anchor the utterly bonkers and hilarious Wild Things”, noted MacDonald. “The show is like nothing we’ve seen before – with a blend of giant woodland creatures, bickering couples and pots of gold; it’s a big daft slice of genius.”
