Sky Living has lined up a number of high profile guest stars for Doll & Em.
Olivia Wilde (House), Ewan McGregor (August: Osage County), Evan Rachel Wood (True Blood) and Mikhail Baryshnikov (Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit) have all signed on for guest starring roles on the six episode second season of the Sky Living comedy, TVWise has learned.
Created by and starring Dolly Wells and Emily Mortimer, Doll & Em explores what happens when Em, a Hollywood actress, hires her childhood friend, Doll, as a personal assistant while making a film in Los Angeles. A bittersweet, intimate portrait of female friendship, the series followed their relationship through unexpected complications and surprising twists.
The second season sees the duo write an off-Broadway play together in an effort to do something creative on equal footing. They manage to hoodwink Evan Rachel Wood and Olivia Wilde into appearing in it, with Wood playing Doll and Wilde playing Em. The play is jeopardized when Em gets cast in a Hollywood action thriller opposite Ewan McGregor and threatens to abandon their passion project. Chaos ensues as Doll & Em start rewriting the play to reflect their growing frustration with each other and Wilde and Wood begin to lose faith in the production.
The comedy series, which was picked up for a second season back in October, was a critical success in its initial run and was quickly acquired for US broadcast by HBO. The premium cabler, home to such series as Girls and Silicon Valley, has also come on board this new run of episodes and will air the second season in 2015. Doll & Em is produced by King Bee Productions and is currently shooting in New York. Sky Vision is handling global sales.
