Channel 4 has inked a deal with Scorpion TV to acquire the UK broadcast right to yo yo documentary World On A String, TVWise has learned.
World On A String combines elements from Spellbound & Dogtown and Z-Boys, and follows four members of the yo-yo community as they prepare and take part the World Yo-Yo Contest, an international championship which draws hundreds of contestants all aiming to be crowned world champion.
“World on a String is perfect for a young, engaged audience that wants to know more about the variety of sports out there”, said David Cornwall, Founder and Managing Director of international distributor Scorpion TV. “This is a passionate community and a very well made film that keeps up the drama right to the end”
The hour-long documentary was directed by Dawn Schwartz, whose list of previous credits also includes Once In A Lullaby and All The President’s Men Revisited, and executive produced by Matthew Christopher Wright. World On A String is set to premiere on Channel 4 on Monday December 22nd at 1am.
