Channel 5’s Katie Keenan is getting an expanded role that spans across VIMN’s portfolio of UK channels.
The executive, who is currently serving as Channel 5’s Head of Acquisitions, will now take on responsibility for acquisitions across all of Viacom’s UK channels including MTV, Comedy Central and Spike – which is set to launch in the UK in the spring of 2015.
As the lead on acquisitions, Katie Keenan will be Viacom’s main UK liaison with the Hollywood Studios and other international distributors. She will work closely with the programming teams at Channel 5, MTV & Comedy Central and will be looking to identify opportunities to share acquisitions across channel brands.
Katie Keenan has been instrumental to Channel 5 successes since being appointed Head of Acquisitions in 2010. In that capacity, she has been responsible for closing deals for such hits US series as Person of Interest, Gotham, CSI: Cyber and NCIS: New Orleans. She will continue to report to C5’s Head of Programming Ben Frow, whilst also reporting into Jill Offman on Comedy Central acquisitions.
In addition to handing Keenan an expanded role, Viacom has also appointed MTV UK’s Vice-President of Programming Vanessa Brookman as the programming lead for Channel 5’s digi-net 5*, and C5’s Head of Channel Management Craig Morris as the programming lead of Spike UK. Both will report into Channel 5’s Director of Programming Ben Frow.
