That Day We SangBBC Two’s one-off drama That Day We Sang (formerly known as Tubby & Enid) will premiere on Boxing Day (Friday December 26th) at 9pm, it has been announced.

Tubby & Enid is set in Manchester in 1969 and tells the story of Tubby & Enid, two lonely middle-aged people who grab a second chance at life, reconnected by the power of music, when they meet at a reunion of the Manchester Children’s Choir, who made the iconic Columbia recording of Nymphs and Shepherds in 1929. As we go between Tubby and Jimmy, their stories collide, and they must somehow find each other.

The 90 minute drama, which wrapped production several months ago, is based on stage play of the same name by Victoria Wood, who penned and directed this adaptation. It is produced by Endor Productions and stars Imelda Staunton (Shakespeare in Love), Michael Ball (Hairspray), Conleth Hill (Game of Thrones), Daniel Rigby (Big School), Sophie Thompson (EastEnders), Lyndsey Marshal (Rome), Michael Jibson (The Thirteenth Tale), Dorothy Atkinson (Call The Midwife) and Ian Lavender (EastEnders).
