BBC America has renewed their original comedy series Almost Royal for a second season.

Almost Royal, which was acquired for UK broadcast by E4, is a mockumentary which follows Georgie and Poppy Carlton, distant descendants of the British Royal Family, as they take an unofficial royal tour of the United States of America. The show is produced by Burning Bright Productions and stars Ed Gamble and Amy Hoggart.

The show’s second season, which will consist of eight episodes (as opposed to the seven episodes for the first season), will see the Carltons continue their examination of American culture, exploring subjects like beauty, holidays, sport and Law And Order. Leaving no stone unturned, they will dig deep to show the world what America looks like from a British – almost royal – point of view.

“Burning Bright is delighted to have the opportunity to be making a second season of Almost Royal for BBC America. We are very proud to have made such an innovative comedy series that had found an audience on both sides of the Atlantic”, said Executive Producer Clive Tulloh.
