FX is staging a Sons of Anarchy reunion of sorts.
Paris Barclay, who has been serving as a director and executive producer on the biker drama, has signed on to serve in the same capacity on FX’s upcoming drama pilot The Bastard Executioner, which hails from Sons of Anarchy creator and showrunner Kurt Sutter.
Penned by Sutter, The Bastard Executioner tells the story of a warrior knight in King Edward II’s charge who is broken by the ravages of war and vows to lay down his sword. But when that violence finds him again he is forced to pick up the bloodiest sword of all.
The drama, which received a pilot order at FX back in December 2013, is being produced by FX Productions and Fox 21 – Fox’s cable division who are behind Showtime’s Homeland. In addition to Paris Barclay, the executive producers are Kurt Sutter, Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo. Production on the pilot is set to commence on location in Wales in early 2015.
