TNT’s Lumen has found its first cast member.
Parenthood alum Sam Jaeger has signed on for a leading role in the drama pilot, which hails from Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television, TNT Originals and ABC’s boutique division ABC Signature.
Lumen centers on the famous author of a best-selling series of fantasy books, who suddenly disappears, and a family of four who finds themselves transported to the mystical alternate world that inspired her work, where they are plunged into the middle of a war raging between rival magical forces, of light and darkness.
Per Deadline, Sam Jaeger will play Michael Hartman, the stepfather of 16-year-old Charlie whose obsession with finding the author thrusts his family into the surreal world of Lumen. The Parenthood alum is the first actor to board the hour-long fantasy project, which is set to enter production in January.
The drama, which is eyed as a potential successor to Falling Skies on the TNT’s Sunday night genre block, was penned by Desperate Housewives scribe Chris Black and is being directed by Captain America helmer Joe Johnston. The executive producers are Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey, James Frey, Todd Cohen, Joe Johnston and Chris Black.
