DLT Entertainment has made two key hires.
Darren Smith and Jack Cheshire have joined the indie’s growing development team on a part time basis, and will be responsible for driving DLT’s push into comedy, TVWise has learned.
As part of that push, the two execs will develop both scripted and non-scripted comedy series, format adaptations, and new entertainment programming for UK and international broadcasters. They will be based out of the company’s London office and will report directly to Don Taffner Jr, President of DLT Entertainment,
Both Darren Smith and Jack Cheshire come to DLT with a wealth of experience in the entertainment and comedy side of the business. Darren Smith is joining from Twofour Broadcast where, as Head of Entertainment, he was responsible for such shows as Splash and Sally Lindsay’s Christmas Presents; while Jack Cheshire previously served as Head of New Comedy for the BBC, a role in which he instrumental in raising the profile of talented, upcoming comedians. He also created and produced BBC Three’s The Wrong Door.
“Jack and Darren have a wealth of experience in the comedy and entertainment genres, having worked on both the production and commissioning side”, said Don Taffner Jr. “They both have an impressive list of credits to their name – having brought some of the UK’s most successful shows to the screen in recent years – and working with the best talent on and off screen. We’re thrilled to welcome them to DLT at a time when we are looking to expand our original content output.”
