TV Land has recruited new showrunners for their comedy series The Soul Man.
Bill Martin and Mike Schiff have signed on as executive producers and co-showrunners for the twelve episode fourth season of the comedy series, which stars Cedric The Entertainer and Niecy Nash, TVWise has learned.
In addition to securing new showrunners to replace Ric Swartzlander, The Soul Man has tapped former 30 Rock recurring guest star Sherri Shepherd to reprise her role as Boyce Ballentine’s unpredictable cousin Nikki, who was last seen hawking sex toys to the elder ladies of Boyce and Lolli’s church and always has some new business that’s causing trouble and wreaking havoc in the Ballentines’ lives. Shepherd will appear in 10 of season four’s twelve episodes.
Created by Cedric The Entertainer and Suzanne Martin, The Soul Man follows R&B superstar-turned-minister Reverend Boyce “The Voice” Ballentine after he relocated from Las Vegas to St. Louis with his wife Lolli. While learning to adjust to their new humble life, they have plenty of obstacles in their way. One of these is Boyce’s brother Stamps. The series is produced by TV Land Originals and stars Cedric The Entertainer, Niecy Nash, Wesley Jonathan and Kellee Stewart.
