Forever is sticking around for a while.
ABC has handed a full season order to the Ioan Gruffudd fronted supernatural drama series, TVWise has learned. With the back nine order, the first season of Forever will now consist of 22 episodes.
Forever follows Dr Henry Morgan, New York City’s star medical examiner, but what no one knows is Henry studies the dead for a reason: He is immortal. With the help of detective Jo Martinez, the show peels back the layers of Henry’s colorful and long life through their cases.
The drama, which was created by is produced by Warner Bros. Television and stars Ioan Gruffudd, Judd Hirsch, Alana De La Garza, Joel David Moore, Barbara Eve Harris and Donnie Keshawarz.
The back-nine order comes 7 episodes into the show’s freshman run. While not a huge rating hit, Forever has nevertheless been a decent performer for ABC, with the most recent episode averaging just under 5 million viewers and a 1.1 A18-49 demo rating.
This is the latest order for additional episodes that ABC has handed out in the past two months. The network previously granted full season orders to How To Get Away With Murder and Black-ish; and ordered additional episodes of several shows including The Middle, The Goldbergs and Modern Family.
