Sky Atlantic has released the first trailer for their new period drama The Knick, which premieres on Thursday October 16th at 9pm.
From acclaimed director Steven Soderbergh, The Knick is set in downtown New York in 1900 and centers on Knickerbocker Hospital and the groundbreaking surgeons, nurses and staff, who push the bounds of medicine in a time of astonishingly high mortality rates and zero antibiotics. The cast includes Clive Owen, Andre Holland, Eve Hewson, Jeremy Bobb, Juliet Rylance, Michael Angarano, Chris Sullivan, Cara Seymour, Eric Johnson, David Fierro, Maya Kazan, Grainger Hines and Leon Addison Brown.
The medical drama is the latest acquisition for Sky Atlantic to emanate from the multi-year output agreement between BSkyB and HBO, which now includes a development element on the drama side. The Knick, which has already been renewed for a 10 episode second season, is also the latest original series for HBO’s sister network Cinemax, who started down that road with action series Strike Back – a co-production with Sky, which just resumed production on its final season.
