UKTV’s Gold channel is adding some Bond star power to their original comedy series You, Me & Them.
Honor Blackman, arguably best known for her role as Bond girl Pussy Galore in 1964’s Goldfinger, has signed on to guest star on the second season of the Tony Head and Eve Myles fronted comedy series, TVWise has learned.
Created by Steve Turner and produced by Hat Trick Productions, You, Me & Them tells the story of Ed (Anthony Head) and Lauren (Eve Myles). The couple are madly in love, but Lauren’s family and everyone around them seems to have an opinion on their relationship, and specifically, their 20 plus-year age gap.
Blackman, repped by Stevenson Withers Associates, will play Rose, Ed’s vital and eccentric mother, who is quite ready to cause chaos between her son and his girlfriend given half a chance. At the age of eighty, Rose has the tireless nature of a person a quarter her age and even though she seems harmless to Lauren, Ed warns her she will create turmoil.
“I think they are lovely people, and a terrific team and I look forward to having fun with them”, said Honor Blackman. “Anthony Head and Eve Myles have a wonderful relationship; I am going to see if I can rattle their cage a bit!”
You, Me & Them has the distinction of being the first original scripted comedy for Gold and, equally, one of UKTV’s first scripted originals to earn a renewal. The second season, which was greenlit back in July, is now in production for a 2015 premiere. Angela Sinden is returning as the series producer, while Helen Williams, Simon Lupton and Jimmy Mulville will again executive produce.
“Honor Blackman may be the same age as the Queen and it is 50 years since she played the infamous Pussy Galore in Goldfinger, but she is still beautiful, mesmerising and a legendary actress”, added Steve North, General Manager of Gold. “I am delighted she is joining our brilliant cast and the eccentric You, Me & Them family.”
