FOX UK is adding another Freakshow to their line up.
The Fox International Channels owned and operated broadcaster has snapped up the AMC unscripted series after reaching a deal with international distributor Endemol Worldwide Distribution, TVWise has learned.
Freakshow follows Todd Ray’s quirky family business — the Venice Beach Freakshow. Leaving behind a successful career in the music industry, Todd realized his true passion: bringing together all things bizarre and unique, including two-headed animals, strange artifacts, eccentric performers and human wonders.
Endemol USA has produced two seasons for US broadcaster AMC – the cable network behind such series as Breaking Bad, Mad Men and The Walking Dead. The show will, however, not proceed to a third season after AMC recently abandoned unscripted to re-focus on their drama roots.
FOX UK’s deal with Endemol, which was negotiated by Toby Etheridge and Gisela Asimus-Minnbergh, covers both seasons of the show. It is quite timely as it comes on the same day that the fourth season of American Horror Story – subtitled Freak Show – is set to premiere on the channel. A preview of Freakshow will air at the conclusion of the American Horror Story premiere.
For FOX UK, Freakshow is the latest addition to their already strong line up. In addition to the aforementioned fourth season of American Horror Story, their Autumn schedule also includes the fifth season of The Walking Dead and the first season of FX’s geo-political drama Tyrant.
“We’re thrilled to be back in business with Endemol on this AMC unscripted gem, which will perfectly complement our Autumn line-up on FOX”, said Toby Etheridge, Head of Programming & Scheduling for Fox International Channels UK.
The eight episode first season of Freakshow will premiere on FOX UK on Wednesday November 26th at 10pm.
