The BBC has tapped Sherlock and The Hollow Crown star Benedict Cumberbatch to front a new trailer highlighting a number of their upcoming dramas.

The trailer, which will air tonight at 8:58pm ahead of the series premiere of The Missing, features Cumberbatch voicing William Shakespeare’s All the World’s a Stage monologue from As You Like It as the trailer shows clips from past, present and future BBC dramas – which the corporation said firmly cements their place as “the home of Original British Drama”.

Upcoming drama series that will be featured in said trailer include The Casual Vacancy, Esio Trot, The Missing, The Interceptor, Wolf Hall, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell and the upcoming Poldark reboot. Shortly after the trailer airs, an interactive version, utilising the new WIREWAX mobile player, will be made available online and on the iPlayer.

“It’s a privilege to premiere a new trailer tonight that celebrates BBC Drama”, said Ben Stephenson, the BBC’s Controller of Drama Commissioning. ” Who better than Benedict Cumberbatch to narrate this special film that showcases the BBC’s unique role in nurturing talent and its powerful storytelling from the past, present and future.”
