Sky1 and Cinemax are adding to the cast of Strike Back.
Mad Dogs alum Max Beesley, Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) and Tim McInnerny (Spooks, Blackadder) have joined the cast of the action series for its upcoming final season (the fifth for Sky1 and the fourth for Cinemax), TVWise has learned.
Based on the novel of the same name by Chris Ryan, Strike Back follows the exploits of Section 20, an elite counterterrorism unit as it spans the globe to stop potential threats, often behind enemy lines. The drama series is produced by Left Bank Pictures in association with BSkyB & HBO/Cinemax and stars Phillip Winchester, Sullivan Stapleton, Robson Green, Michelle Lukes and Milauna Jackson.
Max Beesley has been cast as an ex-pat gangster; Tim McInnerny as the British Ambassador to Thailand; and Michelle Yeoh as the Ambassador’s wife. In addition to the trio, Michael McElhatton, Dustin Clare, Will Yun Lee, James Wilby, Adrian Paul, Joseph Gatt, Christian Antidormi, Leo Gregory, Mark Griffin, Wolf Kahler, Andrew Pleavin, Eliza Hope Bennett, Masa Yamaguchi and British mixed martial arts champion and UFC fighter Michael Bisping have joined the cast for the final season.
Initially set to premiere this year, the 10 episode final season of Strike Back was delayed when Left Bank Pictures was forced to go on a production hiatus back in February after series lead Sullivan Stapleton suffered a head injury while on a night out in Thailand. Production has since resumed in Europe and Thailand, with the series expected to return to Sky in the UK and Cinemax in the US in 2015.
