Lifetime has renewed Desperate Housewives’ creator Marc Cherry’s drama series Devious Maids for a 13 episode third season.
Devious Maids follows a close-knit group of maids who are bonded together by their jobs, life struggles and the melodramatic upstairs-downstairs universe that engulfs their employers. In this series murder and mayhem collide in the mansions of Beverly Hills’ wealthiest and most powerful families.
The ABC Studios produced drama series stars Ana Ortiz, Judy Reyes, Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sanchez, Edy Ganem, Grant Show, Brianna Brown, Rebecca Wisocky, Tom Irwin, Mariana Klaveno, Brett Cullen, Drew Van Acker and Susan Lucci.
The second season of Devious Maids, which is executive produced by March Cherry and Eva Longoria, wrapped its run in July and enjoyed strong ratings; making Lifetime the number one cable network in its Sunday 10-11pm time period amongst Total Female Viewers, Women 18+, Women 25-54 and Women 18-49.
“We are thrilled to be bringing Devious Maids back for another season”, said Rob Sharenow, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Lifetime. “Marc Cherry has created a uniquely twisted world that blends his comic wit with devilishly ingenious characters and plot twists.”
Created by Marc Cherry, Devious Maids is based on the hit telenovela, Ellas son… la alegría del hogar and landed at Lifetime with a series order in 2012, when ABC, who originally developed the drama, passed on the project. Ric Scwartzlander and Brian Tanen will serve as co-showrunners alongside Marc Cherry for the third season.
