ITVBe has acquired a pair of US reality series.
The entertainment and lifestyle channel, which is set to launch on Freeview, Sky, Virgin and Freesat on October 8th, has sealed a deal with DCD Rights to acquire the final three seasons of Bridezilla; and spin-off series Marriage Boot Camp: Bridezillas & its celebrity edition Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars, TVWise has learned.
Bridezillas – whose previous seasons have aired on such channels as Channel 5 and Really, follows brides-to-be as they turn into matrimonial monsters going from sweet to certifiable while planning the wedding of their dreams. The series, which was recently cancelled by WE tv after 10 seasons, is produced by the DCD Media owned production company September Films.
Spin-off series Marriage Boot Camp: Bridezillas sees five couples from Bridezillas as they live together in the same house for an extreme marriage bootcamp in an effort to work out their marriage demons; while Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars is a celebrity version of the format featuring famous couples from reality series such as Real Housewives Of Orange County and Jersey Shore. Both are produced by ThinkFactory Media.
“These two series are just the right fit for our new channel, which will be the go to spot for brilliant and entertaining programmes featuring real lives, and big characters”, said ITV’s Head of Acquired Series Sasha Breslau, who brokered the deal between ITV and DCD Rights. Bridezillas, Marriage Boot Camp: Bridezillas and Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars will premiere on ITVBe later this year.
