Gillian Anderson is set to get a lot more screen time on NBC’s Hannibal.
The former X-Files star has been upped to a series regular on the Bryan Fuller produced series for its upcoming 13 episode third season, TVLine reports.
Hannibal revolves around FBI Special Agent Will Graham and his mentor, Dr. Hannibal Lecter. The drama series, produced by Gaumont International Television, stars Hugh Dancy, Mads Mikkelsen, Caroline Dhavernas, Lara Jean Chorostecki, Laurence Fishburne and Gillian Anderson,
Gillian Anderson has been with the show since it launched on NBC, appearing in the (then) recurring role of Dr Bedelia du Maurier. This marks the second NBC show that Anderson has been a regular on in as many years. She was previously one of several regulars on Crisis, which was cancelled after one season.
In addition to Hannibal, Anderson is also the series lead, and one of the executive producers, on the BBC Two drama The Fall, which returns for its second season on BBC Two in the UK and Netflix in the US next month. The show, which also stars Jamie Dornan, is, sources say, being eyed for a two season pickup through 2016 by BBC executives, in a deal similar to the one they struck for Line of Duty.
