Sky1 has ordered three new series as part of their continued investment in the 8pm slot.
The satcaster’s flagship channel has given the green-light to Gordonstoun, a six episode observational documentary series from ITN Productions; Relatively Clever, a seven episode quiz series from John Stanley Productions; and Fright Club, a six episode factual entertainment series from Maverick TV.
Gordonstoun follows the up’s and downs of life at elite boarding school Gordonstoun. The school firmly believes that it takes more than academic excellence alone to succeed in life, which is why some of the school’s most important lessons take place in the Scottish wilderness surrounding Gordonstoun.
Relatively Clever is a quiz tournament series that pits families against each other in knockout rounds. While essentially a test of intelligence and general knowledge, the series also puts family dynamics under the spotlight as teams of mums, dads, children and grandparents come together to compete for the trophy.
Fright Club follows a group people with the same crippling fear join forces to overcome their phobias once and for all. Each episode will see ten sufferers taking part in an extreme form of exposure therapy.
The trio of series are the latest commissions for the 8pm slot, which Sky1 has been heaving investing in over the past few months. They follow the recent orders for The Kings & Queens of Speech, The Sun Set, Welcome To My Garden and Flintoff: Lord of the Fries.
“I am delighted to announce these fresh and exciting new additions to Sky 1’s emerging slate of 8pm programming, a celebration of people’s passions and real life journeys that the whole family can enjoy together”, said Sky1 Director Adam MacDonald.
