Sky1 has given the greenlight to Flintoff: Lord Of The Fries, a six episode series which will follow Freddie Flintoff as he tours Britain and Ireland in a chip shop van.
Flintoff: Lord of the Fries will also feature Rob Penn, who recently tackled the Trans Amazonian Highway with Flintoff, and will follow the duo on their “unusual summer adventure” in the eco-friendly chip shop van. The series will see them begin their journey at a Lancastrian chip shop on the humble housing estate where Fred grew up and follows them across the country from the Giants Causeway to Whitby.
The six episode series is being produced by Plum Pictures and was commissioned by Sky1 Director Adam MacDonald and Sky’s Commissioning Editor Chris Wilson. It is the latest commission for Sky1’s weekday 8pm time-slot, following the recent orders for The Kings & Queens of Speech, The Sun Set and Welcome To My Garden. The executive producers are Stuart Cabb and Chris Wilson.
“Sky 1’s customers love Freddie and this show has all the energy, joy and adventure we would like our 8pm shows to have”, said Sky1 Director Adam MacDonald. “With Freddie’s passion for fish n’ chips and Rob’s for eco-friendly travel they are the perfect partnership for Flintoff: Lord of the Fries”.
