When Calls The Heart (FT)

Movies 24 has picked up the UK broadcast rights to Hallmark’s original drama series When Calls The Heart, TVWise has learned.

When Calls The Heart is set in a 19th century Canadian coal town and followsElizabeth, a young teacher accustomed to her high society life who receives her first classroom post in a small prairie town in the Western Frontier. She must deal with her restless students as well as the new Constable in town, Jack Thornton. Elizabeth will have to learn the ways of the frontier if she wishes to thrive in the rural west.

The drama series, which was recently renewed for a second season, is based on the novel of the same name by Janette Oke and is produced by Believe Pictures and Brad Krevoy Television. When Calls The Heart stars Daniel Lissing, Erin Krakow and Lori Loughlin. Guest stars include Jack Wagner and James Brolin. The executive producers are Brad Krevoy, Brian Bird and Michael Landon, Jr.

One of a number of channels operated in the UK by NBCU’s global channels division Universal Networks International, Movies 24 has a focus on airing TV movies. While When Calls The Heart is a rare television series acquisition for the channel, it is still on brand for Movies 24 as Hallmark initially piloted the series with a two-hour TV movie back in October 2013. The first season of When Calls The Heart will premiere in the UK on Movies 24 on Sunday September 14th at 5pm.
