BBC One Sets Premiere Date For ‘Our Zoo’

BBC One’s new period drama Our Zoo will premiere on Wednesday September 3rd at 9pm, it has been announced.

Our Zoo tells the true story of the man who created Chester Zoo in the 1930s and the impact it had on his family. The series features a large cast which includes Lee Ingleby (Inspector George Gently), Anne Reid (Last Tango In Halifax), Liz White (Life On Mars), Peter Wight (The Paradise), Ralf Little (The Royle Family), Sophia Myles (Underworld), Stephen Campbell-Moore (The History Boys) and newcomers Amelia Clarkson & Honor Kneafsey .

The six episode series was created by award-winning playwright Matt Charman and is produced by Big Talk Productions, marking the first time that the award winning indie has produced a series for BBC One. It is based on an idea introduced to Big Talk by boutique production company Aenon, which is headed by former BBC Factual commissioner Adam Kemp. The executive producers are Adam Kemp, Luke Alkin, Kenton Allen and Matthew Justice. Our Zoo is directed by Andy de Emmony.
