BBC One has handed a six episode series order to Mountain Goats, TVWise has learned.
Mountain Goats (formerly known as Miller’s Mountain) is a studio sitcom set around the antics of a ragtag group of Mountain Rescue volunteers. Set in the Highlands, the series takes us from pub to hillside as our ramshackle family try to save walkers, climbers, dogs and, most often, themselves.
The comedy series, which was created by Donald McLeary, is produced by BBC Scotland and BBC In House Comedy and stars Jimmy Chisholm, Sharon Rooney, Kevin Guthrie, David Ireland, Kathryn Howden and David Ireland. Owen Bell is the series producer, while Matt Lipsey is attached to direct. The executive producers are Steven Canny and Ewan Angus.
Mountain Goats has the distinction of becoming the first project to land a series order after being piloted as part of the BBC’s recently revived Comedy Playhouse Season. The project, which was then working under the title Miller’s Mountain, was one of three pilots commissioned for the season, with the other two being Over To Bill and Monks.
